Other Items That Caught Our Eye This Week - w/e 13 January

by The Participator – 14 Jan 2018

Of course many will view such generosity as a good thing, but can the UK taxpayer realistically be expected to look after all the 7 billion people in the world?

Health tourism SCANDAL: Patient racks up £530k debt – UK’s BIGGEST ever unpaid NHS bill

Also from the Express:

Health tourism costs the NHS £2bn a year, says Cancer specialist

‘It’s RIDICULOUS’ NHS spends £100 million on TRANSLATORS for 128 languages in five years

We can’t treat the whole world, it’s just not possible. Meanwhile we see stories like this from the Daily Telegraph:

NHS crisis: A&E chiefs from 68 hospitals warn patients are ‘dying in hospital corridors’ amid ‘intolerable’ safety risks

From the Express:

Trump CANCELS UK visit in major diplomatic SNUB to Theresa May after public row

Why do our politicians think it’s a good idea to alienate our closest ally? We don’t think it’s a good idea to do that. Our state broadcaster also continues to publish anti-Trump propaganda like this (from the front page of the BBC website):

Trump ‘in crude Oval Office outburst about migrants’

More articles highlighting the crazy “SJW” agenda in the UK military:

No place for women in the SAS, says ex-special forces member training them

The Daily Telegraph comments on a recruitment video that appears to be targeting particularly gays and Muslims and that says it’s OK to cry:

New ‘softer’ Army recruitment ad accused of ‘neglecting people who are interested in joining up’

it is okay for soldiers to cry and pray

Also this article from Shy Society may reveal to us something of the thinking behind such a campaign:

Did British Army chief admit native Brits are being replaced?

We mentioned the pressure Toby Young was coming under from activists last week, unfortunately this week he bowed to the pressure and resigned:

Toby Young resigns from universities regulator role saying his appointment became ‘a distraction’

The screaming SJWs won the day.

The BBC continues to grossly under-report the most significant events of our times, so we look elsewhere for the news nowadays. From Breitbart:

France: Record 100,000 Asylum Applications in 2017

Attacks on lorry drivers are continuing according to the Express:

‘It hasn’t stopped!’ Lorry drivers are ATTACKED by Calais migrants EVERY DAY, haulage boss

The Daily Telegraph reports on the failure of an EU scheme to repatriate migrants:

‘We might as well try to get to Europe after all’: Migrants sent home by EU find broken promises in ‘white elephant’ repatriation scheme

officials administering the scheme have been attacked by mobs of returnees

The UK govt. wants us to think they are getting tough on illegal immigration, from Breitbart:

British Government Shutting Down Illegal Migrant Bank Accounts to ‘Encourage’ Them to Leave ‘Voluntarily’

However if they close down their bank accounts surely they won’t be able to get home? Has the govt. thought this through? Why don’t they just arrest them since they clearly must know who these individuals they are targeting are? More doubts about Amber Rudd’s competence here – this seems to us to be a money saving exercise that will backfire.

An excellent point was made by a Norwegian Professor Sigurd Skirbekk that:

European countries have earlier rejected the Germans when they used the argument of lebensraum as a motivation for their foreign policy

Read more of his views here:

Migration Perspectives

Another opinion article here at Gates of Vienna is worth reading as well:

The New Migration Period

Another opinion article worth reading from Gatestone Institute here, highlighting the EU’s terrible attitudes that are destroying Europe:

Mass Migration: The European Commission’s New “Norm”

Here’s an article that suggests an approach to solving the migration crisis:

How to successfully stop illegal immigration: Follow Israel’s model

Major freedom of speech attack in Germany – a US blogger is more concerned than the BBC:

German Politician Blocked On Social Media Placed Under Criminal Investigation Under New Hate Speech Law

The politician in question is the deputy leader of the AfD, which made major gains in Germany recently to become a serious opposition force. Quote from the above article:

she accused police of appeasing “barbaric, gang-raping Muslim hordes of men.” The statement was barred on Twitter and Von Storch and others were barred on Twitter and Facebook.

The UK police questioned UK citizens for expressing similar concerns, concerns which are of course shared by a great many. From Breitbart:

Police Hunt Down Facebook Users Who Made ‘Offensive’ Comments About Muslim Grooming Gangs Online

We are very seriously concerned about such attacks on freedom of speech in Europe today. The above article also shines a spotlight on the problem of inequality before the law – the Racial and Religious Hatred Act of 2006 is not being applied fairly and this is increasing racial and religious tensions in the UK (i.e. the legislation is having the very opposite of the supposedly intended effect). We continue to call urgently for the repeal of this deeply divisive and counter-productive legislation. The protection of criticism of religious beliefs included in section 29j of this legislation must be preserved however.

Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006

From the Daily Mail about the Daily Mail:

“Daily Mail hits out at Virgin Trains after paper removed from sale”

We came upon this article at Vlad Tepes’s blog from last month:

Catalonia elects third muslim representative

We were reminded that Catalonia already has a very large Muslim population, according to Gatestone Institute they are around 7% of the population:

Spain: Barcelona Attack Was Preventable

The article also claims that 10,000 members of the separatist movement are converts to the religion. Spain overall seems on track to become a Muslim nation once again (as does much of Western Europe), as suggested by this article also from the Gatestone Institute:

The Quiet Islamic Conquest of Spain

News that we aren’t sure is good or bad..

People in Iran continued to protest bravely against the regime.

The Washington Post claims that smaller cities (which tend to be apolitical and more religious) have seen protests:

New data shed light on the dramatic protests in Iran

The above article links to a map which shows how widespread the protests are.

From the Gatestone Institute:

Behind the Latest Protests in Iran

The above article seems to confirm the Washington Post article view – unemployment, inflation and govt. corruption are all factors – essentially the govt. is incompetent in this writer’s view.

Also from the Gatestone Institute a chilling reminder of how brutal this regime can be, which is why we cannot be simply optimistic about the protests:

Iran Sends More to the Gallows

From al Arabiya:

The grim repeat of torture, deaths in Iranian prisons after protests

“some 3,700 people were arrested in the days of protests…

A writer at American Thinker talks about the lack of a united opposition and makes the case for rallying round the son of the late shah of Iran:

Is Reza Pahlavi the Only Hope to Overthrow the Mullahs?

At PJmedia however, a writer argues pessimistically that Iran is heading for collapse whatever happens, citing numerous problems including an aging population and a serious depletion of water reserves:

The Norm Is NOT Democracy — the Norm Is Extinction

The country has used up 70% of its groundwater and its literally drying up major rivers to maintain consumption

The Express claims a leaked report from the EU states that the EU will be damaged more by a bad Brexit deal:

Bad Brexit deal WILL hurt EU, admits Brussels: And here’s where will be worst hit

Also even the BBC has to admit that the economy is doing well:

UK manufacturing output at its highest for 10 years

Jon MC comments:

But of course no good news can ever be attributed to the vote to leave! And the remoaning Beeb manages to end on a negative note (of course!).

We increasingly view the activities of the big internet companies with antipathy due to their creepy censorship activities. The good news this week on this front is that James Damore is standing up to this Goliath of a corporation by suing Google. From the LA Times:

James Damore sues Google, alleging discrimination against whites and men

Also an article from the Business Insider claims very serious political bullying is taking place within the Google corporation:

Google managers kept blacklists of conservative employees and one manager considered holding ‘trials,’ a new lawsuit alleges

Such political interference by major corporations is a very serious problem in the West today, as we discussed in the last post.

Also a shocking claim from the Daily Caller:

Google’s New Fact-Check Feature Almost Exclusively Targets Conservative Sites

Bad news about the BBC is good news in our book. From the Express:

Furious BBC stars show solidarity with editor who QUIT ‘illegal and secretive’ corporation

Let’s hope everyone leaves! Sounds like this corporation should be shut down!!!

Breitbart claims that Euroscepticism is on the rise among the youth in Italy:

2018 Election: Surge of Support for Eurosceptic Italian Parties Among Young Voters
