Brexit ‘No Deal’ Papers Squash ‘Army on the Streets’ Scaremongering, UK Preparing for Opportunities
Tensions in the Tory party between the Leave and Remain camps seemed to surface this week. From ITV news:
Chancellor Philip Hammond accused of launching ‘another dodgy Project Fear’ over Brexit
Corbyn says “no deal” is unacceptable, from The Express:
Jeremy Corbyn claims no deal Brexit is ‘UNACCEPTABLE’ and Labour will NOT support it
Quote from Corbyn:
the Labour Party is very big and very strong
Opinion from The Commentator:
EU will have to respect WTO rules in “no-deal” Brexit
We were very concerned this week about developments in South Africa, as reports came in that land expropriation of white-owned farms began. From The Express:
South Africa farm seizures BEGIN: Chaos as first expropriation of white-owned farms starts
Last week, ANC chairman Gwede Mantashe sparked panic among the farming community when he said: “You shouldn’t own more than 25,000 acres of land. Therefore if you own more it should be taken without compensation.
Agri SA said about 20 per cent of South Africa’s farms produce 80 per cent of the food that feeds millions of people in southern Africa, and many of those properties would be affected by a 25,000-acre cap.
The mindless destruction of a country’s food supply, even possibly the whole economy in time, will not just have consequences for white farmers in S. Africa of course but it will have consequences for everyone in that country and people far outside its boundaries as well.
South Africa farm seizure: Terrified white farmers plot escape as crackdown looms
The UK government has signalled its approval of the expropriation. From Breitbart:
Exclusive: British Govt Appears to BACK ‘Land Reforms’ Aimed at Dispossessing South Africa’s White Minority
The UK mainstream media clearly does not share our concerns however, they were busily trying to prove that the murders of white farmers are just a normal part of life for everybody in S. Africa.
The BBC had this:
South Africans’ anger over land set to explode
“Africa is for black people. Period. We need our land back and we’re going to take it by force,” said a woman amongst an angry crowd trying to occupy a field on the north-eastern edge of Johannesburg.
She is wearing a red beret indicating her support for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), a small, radical party which advocates the nationalisation of all land in South Africa.
The BBC mis-characterizes (no doubt deliberately) the EFF as a “small, radical party” – they won 6.35% of the votes in 2014.
“This could be a turning point for South Africa. I think politically this is a moment of enormous opportunity,” said Prof Ruth Hall, a leading expert on land reform, and prominent critic of the government’s recent handling of the issue.
Prof Hall argues that land expropriation – with or without compensation – is already an option under the existing constitution, and that those pushing a constitutional amendment are doing so for political reasons.
Even if we accepted the legitimacy of these claims, the huge questions remain of whether the new farmers will be able to maintain the same levels of productivity as the existing farmers, and whether the farms will even be cultivated at all (many have been left-uncultivated). From The Economist (January):
South Africa is getting land reform wrong
Why 70% of redistributed land now lies fallow
The accusations of anti-semitism in Corbyn’s Labour party still kept coming this week. From The Daily Mail:
EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Corbyn said British ‘Zionists’ have ‘no sense of English irony despite having lived here all their lives’ and ‘need a lesson’, while giving speech alongside Islamic extremists at a conference publicised by Hamas’ military wing
Jewish Labour MPs will be offered bodyguards at party conference over fears of attacks by Jeremy Corbyn’s hardline supporters amid anti-Semitism row
Remember when Corbyn heaped praise on Maduro just before Venezuela went really seriously pear-shaped? Well Corbyn now gives his blessing to Imran Khan the former cricketer who is now the Prime Minister of Pakistan (who supports the death penalty for blasphemers incidentally):
Imran Khan backed by Corbyn after election: ‘New government can deliver social justice’
“It’s a centrist party which, according to the party, aims to create a welfare state, where the state is responsible for education, health and employability of citizens.”
So we can expect a decline in Pakistan’s economic fortunes and yet again no doubt more migrants heading to the racist and Islamophobic West. Christians in Pakistan are also pessimistic about what life in the country will be like under Khan’s leadership, in fact according to the next report they are expecting violence. From The Express:
Imran Khan: Christians fear more PERSECUTION in Pakistan ‘We’re preparing for VIOLENCE’
Mr Khan reportedly said: “I know this law is an inconvenience for some people like that poor woman Asia Bibi.
But it is a law that is complete and I support it.“
Asia Bibi has been on death row for 8 years for those not aware, for the “crime” of drinking from a drinking vessel used by Muslims – an “inconvenience” indeed.
From The Express:
Transgender children told to plan for future babies
Now Corbyn plans to ‘nationalise’ the news
A hashtag was trending apparently “#ChangeTheMedia”. We would prefer a free press without state interference, thanks very much.
From The Times:
Stop white men explaining stuff, says BBC boss
From Rebel Media, the re-trial is delayed until 27th September:
Tommy Robinson’s appeal delayed AGAIN
Another in the “you couldn’t make it up” category. From Harry’s Place (8th August):
Cloaking Hatred, Building Anger
It’s fine to praise the murder of a politician apparently, IF you’re a Muslim, the UK police will look the other way (or maybe they don’t even realize who they are receiving an award from, which would also be worrying).
Has the UK’s justice system gone soft? A series of stories this week made us wonder if that was the case. From The Sun:
WILD WEST BRITAIN Paedophiles, kidnappers and knife-point robbers dodge jail in shocking week of soft justice
Horrifying abuse Drowned in the bath, slashed with knives and chillies in eyes: the torment of the children being accused of witchcraft in the UK
Police run from a gang of feral youths:

The attack in 2008 was with sulphuric acid and devastated her face which had to be rebuilt. She was in an induced coma for 12 days during the extensive surgery. From Wikipedia:
From the Daily Mail a mind-boggling idea to get more “magistrates with criminal records” in order to “boost diversity”:
WANTED: More magistrates with criminal records to boost diversity among the judiciary
HMP Birmingham to become the first prison to be taken back into state control according to The Telegraph:
HMP Birmingham, England’s worst prison, taken over by Government after inmates ‘seized control’
According to The Mirror it’s not the only prison where there are serious problems (no surprises there):
Prison officers claim every British jail may face crisis like Birmingham
Finally an opinion article on the state of the justice system, with some details of a whistleblower’s work:

From The Guardian:
Yorkshire council leaders threaten to pull out of asylum seeker housing scheme
Matteo Salvini threatened to resign, from The Express:
Italy sparks EU crisis: Brussels calls emergency migrant talks as leader threatens to QUIT
Matteo Salvini was formally investigated, from The Guardian:

Finally it appears that the EU has prevailed over the democratically elected leaders in Italy. From The Express:
WATCH: Riot police in violent clashes with protesters over migrant ship in South of Italy
On Saturday night apparently the migrants were allowed to disembark and they:
are expected to be taken in by the Catholic Church in the alpine town of Pinzolo.
Official statistics show that Germany is safer than ever. From Gates of Vienna:
Forty Culturally Enriched Assaults Per Day in Germany? It’s Worse Than That.
The article claims that the true number is more than twice that.
From Voice of Europe:
It’s not about the migrants, it’s all about business right now
German federal government finances migration lobby with 100 million euros a year says Petr Bystron
From Gatestone Institute, a claim that religious lobby groups will not have to declare themselves as lobbying groups and speculation that Macron intends to quietly partition the country:
