Our weekly roundup of news and opinion articles that we thought were important, mostly UK news but foreign news stories of interest to us as well.

Immediately the mainstream media started publishing articles with headlines clearly designed to suggest the disturbances were Tommy’s fault. From the Daily Mail:
However looking at the video clips and images in the above article the trouble all seems to be coming from one side. Those shown wearing masks are all Muslims in these images as well, despite the Daily Mail’s headline ambiguously referring to “masked supporters”.

The BBC refers to “clashes” despite the apparent one-sided nature of the disturbances:

The force said there were no reported injuries and rumours someone had been stabbed were false.

The police are clearly taking sides as well, interfering in the political process. From the Guardian:

There was apparently no reference made to any specific speech however, just vague references to “inciting hatred” etc..

A police van with facial recognition cameras was filming passers by in East London. When one man refused to show his face they arrested him and took his picture anyway (a BBC News clip in the tweet):
